The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards recently took place to honour the best on Television and as usual, it was glamorous gowns and black tuxedos with a few changes here and there. Here are some of the red carpet trends at the Emmys.

Sheer Panels. The incorporation of sheer panels on confections of dresses makes for the most naughty but innocent of looks and this is why celebrities can’t get enough of it especially for many a red carpet events.

Pops of Colour. There is nothing like wearing a colorful gown to stand out in the crowd. Colors from burgundy, Orange, Purple amongst others popped on the Emmys’ red carpet like never before.

Sunny Yellow. Yellow certainly came out to play as not more than three stars made an entrance on the carpet in various shades of this sunny color. Clearly, they all needed a mood pick me up and no colour does it better than yellow.

All shades Grey. Grey is the NEW black! The Emmys red carpet saw the various  shades of Grey from a lot of stars noting it as one of the colors for the season.

A Bow Tie Affair. The men looked dashing in their black tie whilst others gave us a few surprises in the changes made to the normal tuxedo. Variations were made to the bowtie and shirts in stead of the normal black and white tuxedo.

Embellishments. Sequins and beads sparkled on the Emmys red carpet as celebrities came decked out in the shiniest and metallic of gowns.

No outfit is ever complete without a fabulous pair of shoes to top it off. Here is a look at some of the shoe trends going on at the moment.

Ankle Straps. The ankle strap had lost its popularity on the fashion scene for a while but it is back both in chunky and thin straps. Opt for a thin strap if you are a little big around the ankle and for volume, the chunky big strap is the one for you. Ankle straps are perfect for skirts and dresses for maximum visibility.

Color Blocking. Color blocking is still one of the runaway trends this season and it doesn’t only stop with clothes. Multi candy colored shoes are a fabulous way to make an otherwise bland monochromatic outfit pop. Color blocked shoes are suitable for neutral colored outfits.

Au Natural. Natural fibre like cork, rope heels and beads is the way to go for a touch of ethnicity. They are perfect for summer dresses and the bohemian look.

Printed Shoes. The snake skin print on shoes has taken over from where the leopard print let off. Unlike the leopard print, the snake skin comes in an assortment of colours catering to the different needs out there.

Metallic. Metallic colors are still very much on vogue. They are the perfect jewellery for your feet.

The past few months have been paying homage to everything music. The various music awards have been taking place and as usual most celebrities and fashionistas come out to impress on the red carpet. The ladies maintain their elegance, pay tribute to the trends and dress to impress depending on the vibe of the Awards. But, they are not the ones we’re going to pay attention to.

This time round, I have been impressed with male fashion on the red carpet. It is good to see male celebrities especially musicians take to the trends and incorporate a few of them in their style. There has been a parade of color where suits are concerned and a touch of elegance unlike the normal classic black tie suit, tuxedo though some do cut a fine figure in the classics.

No out fit is ever complete without the right shoes and this year’s trends are a testament to that.
Here are some of this season’s shoe trends that will give you an idea on what to wear.
Pastels. Pastels are not only available to clothes but shoes too. Pair pastel shoes with a solid colour for a fun flirty look.
Oxfords. The oxford shoes have made a resurrection on the fashion scene. From flats to heels, oxfords will give your out fit the casual yet chic look. Wear heeled oxford lace-ups for a formal look.

Metallic Colours. These come mostly in ballet flats which are the simplest shoes you can wear on anything. Go for neutrals like Gold or Silver for a really glamorous look.

Floral Print Shoes. The floral print is one of this season’s runaway trend. From floral dresses to denim and now shoes, it is pretty hard to escape the floral print. Go easy on the accessories when wearing any item with a floral print.

Neon. We are seeing a return of the 80’s with the comeback of neon this fashion season. The right way to wear neon shoes is to pair them with a solid colour.

Sneaker Wedge. Sporty chic is making the rounds on the fashion scene but if you don’t want to go full on sports with the sports wear and want to retain your femininity, sneaker wedges are the way to go. They offer both the sporty and feminine look in one go. A perfect way to get in touch with your inner tomboy.
